Beer-mix of fish and chips – Recipes

British cuisine:

I love to eat in Britain because they are foreign restaurants very well. But rarely eat British food – I am not just a meat loaf or rolls kind of person. But there a plate with an authentic British roots I can not resist – good old-fashioned fish and chips. I have a little twist – I like beer mixture into the crust fish, and usually eat the fish with garlic sauce instead of tartar sauce (but do not forget vinegar Malta for the fish too).

Ingredients (serves 6):

  • 2 cups – All-purpose flour
  • A 12-ounce bottle dark beer (eg, dark beer or porter)
  • 1 tsp – dried minced onion
  • 2 pounds – the cod or white fish related as orange roughy – cut the fish into strips one inch wide about 5 inches long
  • Salt and pepper

  • Malt vinegar for the fish
  • Tomato sauce for chips (you can eat simple, I just enjoy sauce tomato on my fries).
  • 4 – large russet potatoes (3 pounds), scrub the potatoes and leave the skin on. Cut into strips about ½ inch thick (the length of the potato chips can be as long as the Pope – but I like relatively thin fries). Do not cut the potatoes until they are ready to add oil.

Preparation:

Place 2 cups flour in a bowl and gradually whisk in beer to form dough. Add the dried onion and let stand at room environment while they are cooking the chips.

Add salt and pepper on both sides of the fish and set aside.

Heat oil to 360 degrees F and then add the chips (be careful not to burn when you add the potatoes).

Cook until crispy and golden brown stirring if necessary (10 to 15 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towel to drain – salt (tent with foil to keep warm).

Once you have completed the chips, heat oil to 375 º F. Coat fish in batter and add to hot oil. Cook until fish is done and that browned turning as necessary (10 to 15 minutes).

Transfer fish to paper towels to drain and then serve with chips. Malta recommend vinegar and salsa in garlic sauce for fish and tomato sauce for chips.
